Highland Fuel Nutrition Supporting Jamie Soutar’s 160KM Manchester Metrolink Challenge

This weekend, Jamie Soutar is taking on one of his biggest challenges yet — running the entire Manchester Metrolink network over two days.
Starting on 19 September, Jamie will attempt to cover all 99 stops across eight Metrolink lines, clocking up approximately 160KM on foot in the process.
Highland Fuel Nutrition is proud to be supporting Jamie with his fuelling as he takes on the challenge.
160KM. 99 Stops. 8 Lines. 2 Days.
Running 160KM is a serious endurance challenge in any setting. Add in two consecutive days, navigating a busy city and following the Metrolink network from stop to stop, and Jamie has a huge weekend ahead.
But the challenge isn't simply about seeing how far he can run.
Jamie is using it to raise money and awareness for 42nd Street and The Horsfall, a Manchester-based charity supporting young people with their mental health and providing free and confidential support.
It's a cause with a strong personal connection for Jamie.
He has spoken openly about his own experiences with mental health, the importance of having access to professional help and the role that running and the wider running community played in transforming his life.
Now he wants to use the platform he has built to help others.
Every Stop Counts
Jamie has called the challenge "Every Stop Counts", and the aim is to turn every kilometre and every Metrolink stop into an opportunity to raise awareness.
Manchester might not be where Jamie is originally from, but it's the city he now calls home.
This challenge is his way of celebrating the city while supporting a local organisation doing important work within its communities.
His fundraising target is £9,999, with donations going towards the work of 42nd Street and The Horsfall.
Fuelling 160KM
For an endurance challenge of this scale, nutrition isn't something that can be left until the legs start hurting.
Jamie will need to consistently replace carbohydrate, fluids and electrolytes throughout both days, while also managing what his stomach can tolerate after many hours on the move.
That's where we come in.
Highland Fuel Nutrition will be supporting Jamie with his race-day fuelling, helping him stay on top of his carbohydrate and electrolyte intake throughout the 160KM journey.
Our aim is simple: make the fuelling side as straightforward as possible so Jamie can concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other — 99 stops at a time.
Good Luck, Jamie
Challenges like this are a reminder of why we started Highland Fuel Nutrition.
Endurance sport isn't always about race numbers, finishing positions or medals. Sometimes it's about using what you're capable of doing to make a difference beyond the finish line.
We're incredibly proud to play a small part in Jamie's challenge and we'll be following his progress throughout the weekend.
